Which fund houses are next? Axis Mutual Fund announced its SIF brand, Accelerate SIF, on 10 October 2026, with equity and hybrid strategies planned. No scheme names or NFO dates had been disclosed as of this update. We will add Axis and any other new entrant when an NFO opens. How big is the SIF market? AUM growth since launch SIF assets have grown almost every month since launch. AMFI's first monthly figure, for October 2025, was ₹2,010 crore across 10,212 folios. By March 2026, AUM had crossed ₹10,000 crore. It then roughly tripled in five months as more AMCs joined and distributors began offering the product. First, monthly inflows roughly doubled between June and August 2026, from ₹3,782 crore to ₹7,699 crore, as more fund houses launched and existing ones added strategies. Second, the average ticket is large: Angel One's reading of AMFI data put the average folio at ₹24.5 lakh in July 2026, well above the ₹10 lakh minimum. This is still an affluent investor's product. Which SIF strategies hold the most money? Hybrid long-short dominates. In AMFI's July 2026 report, hybrid long-short strategies held ₹15,374 crore of the ₹23,177 crore total, about two-thirds. By September, hybrid strategies (including active asset allocators) held ₹26,413 crore and equity-oriented strategies ₹11,874 crore. Most hybrid long-short SIFs run heavily hedged equity, arbitrage and debt, and pitch themselves as a "fixed income plus" option for investors who would otherwise use FDs, arbitrage funds (/insights/arbitrage-funds) or balanced advantage funds (/insights/balanced-advantage) . Equity ex-top 100 strategies became the second-largest group after strong mid- and small-cap interest; they drew ₹2,433 crore in August 2026 alone. Momentum in equity SIFs cooled in September 2026. Equity-oriented inflows fell about 21% to ₹2,404 crore, while hybrid inflows rose to ₹5,174 crore, according to AMFI data reported by Outlook Money. Which SIF brands are the largest? AMFI does not publish AUM by SIF house in its monthly report, but industry trackers do. According to a SIF360 report cited by Outlook Money, Altiva (Edelweiss) led at ₹8,143 crore at the end of July 2026, followed by iSIF (ICICI Prudential) at ₹4,513 crore and Magnum (SBI) at ₹3,837 crore. Together these three held about 70% of SIF assets. By number of investors, iSIF leads comfortably, reflecting ICICI Prudential's distribution reach. Early leaders had a head start of several months, and several strategies were launched only in the past quarter. How have SIFs performed so far? It is too early to judge. An Upstox review of 20 equity and hybrid long-short SIFs, with data to 22 July 2026, found since-launch returns (not annualised) ranging from −6.2% to 10.9% for equity long-short strategies and 0.8% to 9.3% for hybrid long-short strategies. Most of those funds were less than six months old. Short histories mean these numbers mostly reflect when each fund happened to launch. None of the strategies has yet been tested through a deep, prolonged market fall, which is exactly when a short book is supposed to earn its keep. How to use this SIF list Start with the category, not the brand. Decide whether you want a hybrid, equity or asset-allocator strategy based on your goal and risk appetite. Check the ₹10 lakh rule. The minimum applies per PAN across one AMC's SIF strategies, so spreading ₹10 lakh across two fund houses is not possible. Read the ISID. Look for redemption days, notice period, exit load, risk band (1 to 5) and the scenario analysis. Confirm tax character. Some hybrid SIFs are equity-taxed, others are not.
