Lumino Industries, a Kolkata-based power-cable and EPC company, opens its ₹700-crore IPO tomorrow, 27 August 2026 — and unlike most of this week's issues, it's priced well below its listed peers. Here's what to know before it opens.

    The business

Incorporated in 2005 and based in Howrah, West Bengal, Lumino manufactures conductors, power cables, electrical wires and HTLS (high-temperature low-sag) conductors for power transmission and distribution, alongside EPC project execution, from two plants. Its order book stood at about ₹3,149.88 crore as of 31 March 2026 — roughly 1.5 times FY26 revenue. Promoters Purushottam Dass, Devendra and Jay Goel hold 100% pre-issue, dropping to about 72% after listing; the OFS portion is being sold by Devendra Goel (₹150 cr) and Jay Goel (₹50 cr).

    Financial snapshot

    FYRevenuePATNet worth
    FY24₹1,424.63 cr₹86.61 cr₹445.86 cr
    FY25₹1,946.68 cr₹124.59 cr₹570.29 cr
    FY26₹2,089.31 cr₹160.00 cr₹729.58 cr

Revenue and profit have both grown strongly, with FY26 ROE at 24.62% and ROCE at 25.75%, debt-to-equity a moderate 0.53, and PAT margin of 7.66%. At the upper price band, the issue values the company at roughly 12.5 times FY26 earnings — noticeably cheaper than listed peers, which IPOWatch's own comparison table puts anywhere from about 19.8x (KEC International) to over 100x (Bajel Projects).

    What to weigh

    • Most fresh-issue money repays debt, not growth capex: about ₹337 cr of the roughly ₹500 cr fresh issue goes to debt prepayment, versus only about ₹15 cr earmarked for capacity expansion.
    • Promoters are partially cashing out via the ₹200 cr OFS component alongside the fresh issue.
    • EPC and cable manufacturing are working-capital- and input-price-sensitive businesses, with execution risk on large projects.
    • Since bidding hasn't opened yet, there's no live demand signal to gauge market appetite — that only starts building from tomorrow.

GMP: what the pre-IPO chatter says

Unofficial grey market premium trackers have quoted Lumino anywhere from ₹43 to ₹50 in the days before opening, implying informal listing-gain talk of roughly 57–61%. This is unregulated dealer sentiment, not exchange data, can move sharply once bidding actually opens, and should never be treated as a price prediction.

    FAQs

Why is this IPO priced cheaper than its peers?

A lower valuation multiple can reflect the company's smaller scale, its EPC/manufacturing mix, or simply how the issue was priced to attract demand — it doesn't automatically mean it's "underpriced" in a way that guarantees gains; do your own comparison of growth and margin quality against the peers cited.

    When does this IPO list?

Listing is tentatively scheduled for 3 September 2026 on both BSE and NSE, after bidding closes on 31 August and allotment on 1 September.
